Our Story
How It All Began
It started with a conversation. At Brown University, in a discussion group called Junto — named after Benjamin Franklin's society of mutual improvement — two curious minds found each other. Matt, with his warm laugh and endless curiosity. Amélie, who had already called so many places home — from Austria to United World College to Providence — carrying with her the friendships and stories of a life lived across borders.
The spark was there, but the flame ignited that summer in Oakland. While Amélie was deep in Arabic immersion at Middlebury's language program, she kept finding excuses to sneak away — to see Matt, to go on hikes, to fall deeper in love. Their first hike together was at Lands End, where the Pacific crashes against the cliffs and the Golden Gate Bridge emerges from the fog like a dream.
They weathered the pandemic together. Matt stayed by her side through her time at Stanford. And in the San Francisco Botanical Gardens, surrounded by ancient trees and winding paths, they said their first "I love you's" — words that still echo in their hearts.
Years later, Matt brought Amélie back to Lands End — their place, their beginning — and asked her to be his forever. Now they invite you to celebrate the next chapter in a palace as magical as their journey.
With all our love and gratitude, Matt & Amélie
